Welcome!
Hello there and welcome to Handful of Allsorts, the blog that will talk about… well… all sorts!
If you haven’t already, I suggest you have a little read of my about page just to get the ball rolling and see who’s nonsense you have taken the time to read.
I have spent all day creating this blog (read: my lovely boyfriend has spent all day making this with me shouting over his shoulder) and for weeks I have been desperate to get typing and start this up (but not gotten around to it for one reason or another) so there are many things I have saved up in my head as perfect subjects for a good blog post. I would sit and type them all up now but I think I’ll stretch it out over the next few days so I don’t run out of things to say….
For now I’ll give you a little overview of what to expect from the content of said posts and hopefully you will come back to see how well I follow through.
I love food. That is a high priority fact about me. I love to eat food, make food, watch food programmes, read food books, I may at some point write a song entitled “An Ode To Food”. I feel that putting some effort into cooking a delicious meal out of good ingredients is one of the best ways you can show someone that you care about them. Therefore I would like to share some of my favourite recipes with you, in the hopes that you too can help spread the tasty, tasty love.
I have also recently become a bit of a knitting fanatic. In my time as a job-seeking foreigner with not too much to do I needed something to fill the time. One day my mind suddenly jumped back to a lazy Sunday yeeeears ago when my mum taught my sister and me the basics of knitting. We both knitted ‘cat blankets’ (squares about 10cm x 10cm) and then promptly gave up. So when my Mother-in-law showed me her old collection of needles and I found some yarn for €1 at the local winkelcentrum (shopping centre!) I knew what I had to do. Since then I have tentatively gone from one small project to the next and it’s only in the last week that I have dared to try cable knitting! So I will attempt to document my adventures and reveal any troubles, surprises and revelations I encounter along the way.
I will also cover topics such as beauty, fashion, health and anything else that strikes me as blog-worthy material! I will be doing this as regularly as possible and may even come up with a weekly schedule of some sorts when I have some series going.
I hope you stick around and keep reading!
