Firstly I will apologize to you, and myself, for not posting anything yesterday. Only a couple of weeks in and I've already broken the rule I set myself of getting something out every day!
I do, however, have my reasons. Yesterday I hopped on a train to Schipol and flew back over the channel to help my mum out around the house. I arrived in York in the late evening and a couple of G&Ts later (and a whole lot of gossiping with my mum) I was too exhausted to even think about looking at a screen.
My role this week is house-slave, I will be cooking, cleaning, organising, ironing and any other "-ing"s related to housework. My parents work full time and my younger brothers are not particularly house-trained so not much gets done in my absence.
However, this is not as tedious as it may sound, on Saturday we have already booked in to do a cable knitting workshop and yesterday my mum told me that she has also booked us a makeover and makeup lesson at the local Bobbi Brown counter!! I am beyond excited for both of these and along with that we're going to a chicken show on Sunday (yes, my mum is a chicken fanatic) and will be seeing friends and their baby who is the most adorable, little chunk of handsomeness ever!
So this morning I got an early start and began planning what I would do and when. I decided to start with the kitchen as that is where I will be spending a lot of time whilst I'm here. One of my main tasks is to empty all of the meat products from the freezers (including 7 large roasting-joints of pork), turn them into delicious things and then put them back in the freezer so my family can feed themselves when I leave.
Another little excitement we had today was that Arjan's birthday present finally arrived! My siblings, his sister and I all chipped in to get him an Xbox 360 and my parents bought him GTAV, he became obsessed with it over Christmas so I couldn't wait to get it for him for his birthday. It was a complete surprise to him and I made sure we were skyping when he opened it so I could see his face, it was priceless!
Anyway, that's about all I have to write about today, but tomorrow I will have a fast-day so I'll have a recipe for that and I'll make sure I take plenty of pictures at each of the 'events' so there's going to be some fun posts later in the week!
Bonus: here's a picture of my mum being loved by two of our kitties
New Year resolutions are made to be broken especially for doing a good deed Lucy
ReplyDeleteHaha makes me feel a little better! I'll be working my hardest to make sure it doesn't happen again any time soon too!
