Outfit: Autumn Knit Wear

Sunglasses - market in Brighton
Scarf - Self-knitted
Jumper - H&M
Skirt - H&M
Boots - Urban Outfitters

I love Autumn outfits, they're so cosy and comfortable and layering gives you so many more options. I got this jumper in the sales a few weeks ago and I've been wearing it so much recently. It's the perfect weight, heavy enough but loosely knit so if it's a bit warmer it isn't too thick worn on its own.
I'm also pretty proud of my scarf so I've been wearing it a lot too, sometimes even when it's not really weather appropriate, which has resulted in some over-heating situations.

Outfit: Palm Tree Dress

Yesterday we went to the Drielandenpunt and I was wearing one of my favourite purchases of the summer, so I thought I'd do a post about it.

I found this dress in a H&M sale and instantly knew I had to have it. The palm tree print is just the right amount of tropical (without straying into Hawaiian Shirt territory) and the black and white keeps it classic and perfect to pair with a bold lip. I also love the length of this dress, almost every casual dress I own is either a short skirt or maxi, this one falls at a really nice calf length and is perfect for those days when I want to wear something cool but don't want to be completely exposed.
I wanted to wear a bit of jewellery with this outfit, but I couldn't find the pieces I was looking for and everyone was waiting for me, so it's a pretty simple one today.
The sandals were also from H&M but I got them years ago, they are literally glued together because I've worn them a lot, however I think they've done some this year that look almost exactly the same.

Outfit: Sneak Peek

On Monday, our good friends Pablo and Nikki are getting married in Utrecht and we are so excited! This is only the second wedding I've been to and at the last one I was a tiny flower girl! So I've been having fun putting together outfits for both me and Arjan. Ebay has been my saviour with this, not having much money for suits or dresses doesn't mean that you can't get something really great if you know where to look.
I just bought the last finishing touches today and now that I've got it all together I'm even more excited for the big day.
What's even better about this wedding though, is that we're doing some catering for the evening party! It's our wedding present to the happy couple, a selection of homemade savoury snacks to keep people dancing throughout the night. Of course I will do a post about this at a later date, but the fun doesn't stop there, the day after the wedding Pablo and Nikki go on a mini-moon (their proper honeymoon will come next year) and we get to housesit their beautiful, canal-side Utrecht apartment for a whole 5 days! I can barely contain my eagerness for this little holiday, it can't come soon enough.
Until then, here is a sneak peak of both mine and Arjan's wedding outfits…

Mint, gold and who doesn't love shoes with parrots on?!

Guess who is going to be one dapper gent

Outfit: Record Store Day

Saturday was Record Store Day across the world, a day that celebrates independent record stores.
My band, Southern Sunrise, were booked to play two in-store shows in Maastricht and Heerlen. We had a great time, played two awesome shows and enjoyed the nice weather, we even got goodie bags. The only downside of the day was the parking ticket we got...

Outfit: H&M Floral Maxi Dress

When I was home last, my mum and I went shopping and I came back with a good few additions to my wardrobe. One of the items I found in H&M was this floral maxi dress, which I thought would be perfect for a gig outfit, dressed up with my chunky boots and some dark make-up, or for other spring occasions dressed down without the tights and a pair of cute sandals and sunglasses.

Outfit: Sunshine On A Rainy Day

The past few mornings I have been waking up surprisingly early, after getting into the rhythm of it back in York. So, with the extra time between then and Arjan finally rousing (he could sleep for days) I have been perusing Pinterest, looking at recipes, gardening and outfits in particular. So many of the things I've been loving have been incredibly spring/summer related and, despite the weather, I have been dressing in increasingly optimistic clothes.
When I was back in York, my mum and I had a day out. We spent a voucher for afternoon tea (that she had from her birthday two years ago!) at Betty's and then hit the Marks & Spencer sales pretty hard. I could barely fit it all in my suitcase on the way back. I now have plenty of material for outfit posts, thus, I have decided to do one as my re-entry into blogging. This top and these jeans are definitely a couple of my favourite things we found!
As the post title suggests, it has indeed been raining for a majority of the day. It took a few tries to get these pictures but we got there in the end!

Lace Top - Marks & Spencer
Vest - borrowed
Jeans - Marks & Spencer
Shoes - Office
Necklace - gift (I will eventually remember where it is from, I almost never take it off)

The sun has literally just started shining blindingly in my eyes, so lets hope that means there is better weather on the horizon and I can actually start wearing these things outside of the house without a coat on. Stay tuned for more posts about all the other goodies I got!

Outfit: Mango Paisley Gig Dress

This afternoon we have a gig playing the opening of a friend's new shop. I'm really excited to see all the clothes she will have on offer as she's one stylish lady!

Back in January I wrote a post about things I was currently loving and I mentioned a dress that was on my wish list, well surprise surprise, I got the dress and I love it! I've worn it for a couple of gigs now and I love the pops of colour and the fun, paisley pattern. It even came with a cute plaited 'suede' belt.

It's a fairly succinct list of items, but when you've got a good dress and a good pair of boots I don't think an outfit needs much more. (I forgot to put on my silver stackable rings…)

Outfit: Chunky Knit, Silk and Patterns

I haven't been blogging very much recently a) because our internet has only just been fixed and b) because I've been feeling super lazy. We had a really busy February for gigs and on top of it all both Arjan and I got horribly sick and it's taken me a long time to feel like I'm fully recovered.
So today I vowed I would take a shed-load of pictures of a variety of things and now I have 3 things to post about (plus a massive post after the weekend, all will be revealed in good time).
I decided to start it off simple as I've had a big cooking session today and I'm worn out, plus I've only done one outfit post and I keep thinking I should do more!

Skirt - H&M
Boots - Oasis
Necklace - a gift
Rings - H&M

I'd been eyeing up this t-shirt since before Christmas but I didn't have the money for it at the time (not that it was expensive, I'm just broke) then on Tuesday we were shopping with Arjan's Oma and I saw that it was on sale. I was ummming and ahhhing over whether to get it and Oma came over and said she would buy it for me! (apparently she later said "I've seen her looking at that thing for months and I couldn't take it any more!" haha)
I'm loving these stackable rings at the moment, they were dead cheap from H&M and I like how simple they are. I'll definitely be getting some more to mix it up at some point though!

Now, I'm going to get working on the next post as I foresee some heavy drinking over the next few days and that will definitely hinder my ability to type sensibly…..

Outfit: Wrapping up warm

Fear not, I am back! I haven't posted for the last couple of days because I've been finishing up projects at home and yesterday I caught a flight back to the Nether-Netherlands.

Whilst I was home, I treated myself to a couple of things from the Dorothy Perkins 70% Off Sale with the last of my Christmas money. Normally I hate shopping online, I love the convenience, but because I am 'curvier' I find sizing can be tricky if I don't already know how things fit from that shop. This means that with most orders, at least half of it gets sent back because of the fit.
Oddly enough, when my delivery came from Dotty P's, the cardigan, jumper, skirt and tights all fit perfectly. However, when it came to the shoes, a lovely pair of white brogues with a little strap over the laces, I tried on one and it was absolutely fine, tried on the second and it felt a little roomy. I looked at the bottom of the second shoe only to discover that, although the label said it was a 7 (yes, I have flippers, I swim very well though!) the imprint on the sole said 8!
With clenched fists I cursed at the sky and solemnly placed the mismatched pair into their cardboard casket of rejection, Chopin's Piano Sonata No.2 playing in my head.

Anyway, lets not get bogged down with memories of beautiful items returned before their time, and instead celebrate the clothes that did make it!

I've fallen in love with this cardigan, it's thick, warm, soft and who doesn't love a good tartan print?!
